I will be transfering my 46B over to a 120. Can someone recommend a good return pump. I may set up a Wavysea or seaswirl. The tank is a AGA120g RR with dual overflows/returns.

Can you give me some pro's and con's. Money is not an issue.

Thanks for the responses.

Is the Ehiem 1262 strong enough to push water through a split return and possibly 2 seaswirls without too much loss?

Ok I found the stats on the red dragon pumps but don't see a flow rate.

you need to check around, I seem to recall a number of red dragon owners not being happy with them. for that much money, everybody should be happy with them.

OTH, i have never met a dissatisfied sequence owner.

Meschaefer,

Did they say what they didn'tlike about the pump? or was it that they just felt like they should have gotten more for the money spent.
Are the sequence pumps quiet?

I have the tunze stream kit. It comes with 2 pumps and the controller.
Do you think I need more than 1 Ehiem for my returns? I can run 2, using 1 for each return. or is that overkill ? I like having alot of flow in my tank.

I went through alot of trial and error with my 46B and don't want to waste money.

sequence pumps are quite. I was standing next to Loismustdie's sequence Hammerhead and it was dead quite, and that thing is more pump than either you (i think) or i could use.

I have been looking around for a pump for my new tank (225g), and I am pretty much sold on the sequence.

Ultimately, I think that has alot to do with what your are planning on keeping. SPS love super high flow, while softies often require it to be turned down a bit.

I think the sequence can be restricted on the output side of the pump, by up to 30% without damaging the pump. Furthermore, it will draw less electicity this way, so you are not paying for flow you are not using.

I have a blueline 70 HD on my 125, and while my tank is not overflowing, I don't think the overflows can handle anymore than this flow. Otherwise it is quiet enough and cooler than internal pump.

Blueline are pressure rated pumps, which is really not necessary for this application

the Bluline 70HD uses 290 watts to push 1750gph
Sequence Snapper uses 98 watss to push 2400gph.

That is a big difference in power draw, it will cost you three times as much to run the blueline, and the head pressure is not needed.

Now granted, the Blueline will have a better flow at a higher head pressure, but that is really not needed for a return pump unless you are positioning your sump on another floor of your house.

Vision,

I think sequence pumps are awesome also. If you don't need a lot of flow, I would go with eheim but other than that sequence. I had a hammerhead and got it extremely quiet. Take a look at this thread,

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/general-discussion/14845-sequence-pump-too-good-true.html

The snapper uses less watts than the dart but the dart gives you more flow.

As far as a dart with a tunze stream, heck nah it won't be too much in a 120. Especially if you decide to alternate between the two tunzes.
