Your welcome! :)

. . . The filter material is phosphate pads in an attempt to fight algae . . .

This is gettng off topic but algae issue are alot more complex than just PO4. You didn't post what your PO4 is but if it's between .03mg/l and .5 mg/l I would take out the pads. Corals need PO4 and a PO4 deficiency seruiously impairs their photobiology and doens;t let them compete with algae for nutrients. One of the contrdictions I've seen is PO4 increasing as nuisance algae disappears. I would only use urchins, hermits and manual removal to deal with nusance algae issues.

Again, this is off topic but here's some links you might find intersting:

"Coral Reefs in the Microbial Seas" This video compliments Rohwer's book of the same title (Paper back is ~$20, Kindle is ~$10), both deal with the conflicting roles of the different types of DOC in reef ecosystems. While there is overlap bewteen his book and the video both have information not covered by the other and together give a broader view of the complex relationships found in reef ecosystems

If you recently added rock or more rock to the tank it is likely the reason for an algae bloom. Was the rock dry, live rock fresh from another established tank, please elaborate. You may have triggered a cycle or mini cycle. Have you checked your levels?

Dry rock I have not checked my levels in about two weeks but will do so my LFS does a great water check for like seven bucks
