Has anyone else heard this? A guy I know who rides the ferry everyday just told me over the weekend that the terminal at St.George(nothing on Manhattan side) is installing two 2100 gallon Saltwater tanks. He spoke to one of the workers there and found out they will be completed around November. They will be fish only tanks. The only thing he said that didn't sit right with me was that he was told the people from the SI zoo would be taking care of the tanks. If you've been to the zoo and seen their aquarium exhibit you will know why I feel this way.It makes the NY aquarium look like oh let's say Atlantis.

I was told,on good authority, that the up-keep of the tank will be something that will be outsourced to a third party company for maintenance.

I saw them they're covered in blue tarp right now. two large tanks are being installed on the SI side of the ferry.

they look like they're going to be marine tanks with a living color style decoration.

Its not going to look that good when coraline grows all over the fake reef sculptures. Those tanks look overstocked too.

Your not going to see any coraline growth on them if there is no live rock in there. What you are going to see is algae growth on it unless they are ontop of there cleaning.

Tim,

You know as well as I that they're not going to have divers like the aquarium in Spain does to clean that fake coral - soon enough those tanks are going to look like the Kill Van Kull.
