...but dont you take the film off once you hook it up & before you fire up the lamps?

if thats the case, why would film color have to do anything with perfromance?
I also dont believe that ReefExotics had bad intents towards selling MR members the reflectors. its polished Aluminum not Gucci

The color of the film is usefull only to the extent that you can tell who made the reflector.

Chris,

Not sure if you're referring to my post - Neptune has so many FS threads, I made a mistake posing in gen discussion although he did ask - now deleted.

My post wasn't hitting another vendor, not our style, just validating that we are luminarc direct.

Message deleted.

How is it possibly acceptable for 2 vendors to gang up on one in the open discussion forum? Post it in the reefer ratings like the rest of us are expected to.

I was under the impression that the more watts the deeper it penetrates, so if you have a shallow tank you can get away with a lower wattage light source, given all is equal, such as water clarity. I would stick with 250W for a 24" deep tank, just my two cents.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A LUMENARC MINI IN 150W.

The 150 and 250w halide bulbs are completely different sockets.

I spent 3 hours and $40 changing mine over. I designed my hood around the fixtures, so i wasn't about to change fixtures. my ballast box was finished, (spent about $200 on it, not including ballasts) so i wasn't going to change to 250w ballasts.

There's more to light penetration than just wattage. Current now makes a 130w PC for their 72" fixtures. That 130w bulb is 20 less watts than a 150w halide. The halide will penetrate much deeper than the PC for many reasons but the biggest one in this comparison is the size of the bulb. The 130w is spread out over a much larger area while the 150w is a point of very intense light. The reflector also plays a part as well as what elements are used to fill the bulb itself to name a few.

Chris,

Since you blew my spot up and my day is going soo well, I'm going to explain a few things on this thread.

Firstly, I've sold nothing but sumps. Of the 8 sumps I built as a vendor on this forum, 6 I built for less than my costs to make (yes I paid people to take my sumps), 1 I made less than $100 and the other I made over $100 because Frank wanted to offer me more money.

My forum should be in the 'monkey's ass forum' because thats what I am.

The only reason I became a vendor is because I was naive and wanted to follow the site rules. But after seeing so many people selling tanks and other products while not being vendor I realized how much of a monkey's ass I'd been.

My forum ends up in November and although I haven't said this on the site yet, now would be a good time to say that I won't be renewing my forum. I really like being an MR member but not a vendor. If anyone's wondering why I don't close my forum, well I've spent $100 on it already and I like pictures of my stuff being on the site there. Like I've said a few times, its really just a hobby for me. And now that I'm able to build my own tank, I'm satisfied.

So Chris since you put me out there, I'm pretty sure I've made less than -$200 (thats negative 200 folks), how much have you made making sumps/skimmers for members on this site?

From what I see there was no ganging up..
It was a comment on the reflectors quality & brand. Nothing was said about the vendor personally.
Although accused of selling "knock-offs", if anyone is interested......I would contact him directly to see what he has to say.

The guy asked a simple question on where to purchase them.
So let's just get back to the topic.
:thanks:

I have the same Lumenarc from Tony & Pierce had mentioned it was not an original.
After searching.....there is discrepancies between the 2.
However, I can't tell the difference.

Bob:
What are you even talking about?
Are you reading the same thread?

Clear as day House of Laughter...I'm just pissed that tony had to defend himself like that...He's a good dude and wouldn't bad mouth anyone even in private conversations from my experience...As a matter of fact I think I need to go get some mini's for the sides of my tank....Because 3 400's is going to be to much heat for me....Good dude....

& as already mentioned in this thread, there is conflict between the Lumenarc & Coralvue companies.
Although it may not be Tony's intention, they could very well be Coralvue reflectors.

Now.......where's the best deal?
:backtotop
