Best LFS for buying tanks?

I am in the market for a new tank and would love to view some of the major systems out there in person before making any decisions. Are there any LFS in the NYC area where I can view and purchase a new system on site?

id say just buy from the site; i work at a fish shop occasionally during classes and what not and we sell tanks, however the hassle in my opinion makes it not worth it. but take this as an anecdote

Not much in Manhattan, I would recommend going to Absolutely Fish as they have a lot on display and in stock.

Been there, great store but not much of a showroom for reef tanks and none of the Waterbox/ IM/Red Sea stuff there. They did have one complete reef setup from a brand I have not heard of that will be on sale this weekend that looked pretty nice though.

Petco has tanks that are 55 to 75 gallons in your range and are made by Imagitarium. Much heavy glass than Aqueon. 55 gallon $114. 60 gallon breeder going for $131 normal price $219. 75 gallon $180 normally $319. I highly recommend these tanks.

If you do decide to buy from petco. Only buy them when they on sale. Usually every other month. That save you at least 40%

Even though they don't have the big brands, maybe discovering a new brand will be cool. The act of learning about a new brand is as interesting as learning

I’m not local to NYC, but if you want to see full reef systems in person I’d start with the bigger LFS in Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens and call ahead to ask what display tanks they currently have set up (Red Sea, Waterbox, Innovative Marine, etc.) and whether they stock complete systems on-site. If you tell me which borough you’re in, I can suggest a couple specific shops to check first

It might be easier to reach out to local reefers there are lots of reefers that have those tanks, waterbox , innovation marine etc , see how they stock it for ideas and talk to them .you might get a deal from one who might know who’s getting rid of a tank . The hobby is great but the part I enjoy most of all is meeting reefers , seeing other tanks and learning more about reefing
