Tank Salinity & Glass Cleaning Ti

I’m curious about maintaining salinity in my reef tank, I currently keep it at 34.1, but should it be closer to 32? Also, do you have any tips for cleaning Deep Blue glass without scratching it? My Mag Float seems to scratch no matter what I try. Thanks!

In a reef tank, salinity should be kept around 35ppt.

As for cleaning, personally I use the Tunze magnet without any issues on glass tanks

I must have calibrated my Probe 5 times and I still get 33.3.My Hanna says 1.025 so which one is right?

Best photosynthesis and hightest protein content is at 38 PSU. But most aquarists keep it around 35 or 36 and they will live at 32. Check the the pad on your magfloat very carefully under bright light (reading glasses help me) and scrap it gently with a finger nail. Sand almost always has small bits of iron in it and they will get picked up and stick to algae magnets andare hard to see. Small bits of sand or gravel can cause issues also.

Something must be wrong with the mag if it is scratching glass like that. Can you see what part of it is scratching?
