I am running Kent Marine RO HI-F. 100 gpd membrane BRAND NEW. Sediment filter, 2 carbon filters, 1 empty canister, DI unit.

I am probably pushing out double waste vs RO. I know that is not right.

Any Help Would Be Great.

Thanks
Anthony

yep. for every gallon of clean Ro water you need 5 gallons of water.

Which is one of the reasons I don't use RO. I don't like the idea of wasting that much water. I just use straight DI. Since my TDS coming out of the tap I can get away with it. I just have to make sure I use a phosphate binder.

TdS= total disolved solids. every step of your filter takes out part of the total stuff.

prefilters mostly take out suspended solids, not disolved.
carbon blocks take out chlorine

ro does the rest (or 75% with your 100gpd)

DI cleans up what the RO misses.

Since my tap water is only about 45 TDS, I can let the DI do all the work. Sure, I burn through resin, but since I buy it bulk its really cheap.

I just had a thought while reading this: I don't think water can be wasted. Most likely the same amount of water that was here all along is still here (earth). I could be wrong.
