A lot of people have been asking us how they can lend a hand at the upcoming Frag Swap. The good news is that we have a lot of people working on making this the best swap ever, but that doesn't mean we can't still use your help.

Specifically, we could use your help lining up vendors. We have our usual crew committed (including a few surprise guests!) but you as an individual can help get your local LFS or trusted manufacturer to buy a table for the event and show their commitment to the community. All you need to do is ask, "Hey, are you guys going to have a table at the MR Frag Swap?" or "Hey, there are going to be 300+ people at this event, don't you want to use this as an opportunity to get the word out about your products/services?"

More details on table availability is available by contacting [email protected].

The second way you can help out at the event is by bringing some of your livestock to share with the community. Those that have been to previous swaps know that there are a huge amount of deals to be had, that speaks to our core values, spreading the reef community and conservation across a wide population. You can help us by doing two things:

Donation your "pests". We WANT caulerpa, xenia, kenya trees, etc. We used to auction off these donations but this year we will be dividing everything into $5 bags for new reefers to stock their fuges. If you bring us a bag of xenia or caulerpa, someone will divide the bag into $5 cuttings and give them to people at the swap. The money will support our ongoing operational costs. Also, you will be helping to seed a whole new community of reefs that will give back to you in the long run. Karma.

The second method is to donate your prized livestock, fish, corals, frags, etc. We will be auctioning these items off during the day, any donations will be credited to your member status for the value of the purchase price. Your tank may be overgrowing, but for some of us the chance to buy a $10 frag of acropora nana is an opportunity to try our hand at keeping SPS or just to get a new species. Your support pays for this site to stay online. Donate something and buy something, keep the cycle going.

Lastly, we did not have an official "Support MR" thread this year to raise money for our operational costs. Basically, we don't like asking for money. We won't bother you with endless requests and spam messages, just take care of the site by throwing a frag or two our way twice a year. We won't ask again. Thank you.

Looking forward to another great event on December 9th!
