As a fellow vendor this saddens me. As a fellow human being this repulses me. I am very sorry to hear of your loss.

As Dean already pointed out, it's very easy for a non MR member, or member of another bulletin board to announce their 'allegiance' to the hobby and community (by dropping the MR name) in order to garner the trust of the proprietor. Using the MR name will surely add a bit of credibility to the person as well as redirect any possible 'trail' of theft to our community when in fact they could very easily have been from another 'community' trying to drag the name of MR down in the process.

Again, as another vendor here, I'm very sorry to hear about this impropriety.

What's worse, is a guest can claim to be a specific member, then commit a crime like this. They had to have stolen the fish in an attempt to resell them, (I've worked in 3 different Pet Shops) everyone knows stolen fish die fast :(

I have to say that this really sucks! The vendors I've dealt with here, have gone the extra mile for their customers and for someone to take advantage of that trust is really disgusting. It's hard enough making a living running a quality profitable lfs without this nonsense going on. But live long enough & you'll see that people like this are more common than we'd like to think. Vendors have to remember not to let their guard down regardless of who they are dealing with. If this person's ID is know it should at least be divulged to all the vendors here. It's unfortunate but sometimes we learn the hard way. --Rob--

lol aqua, not that its funny, but dang. i really doubt the person had planned ahead to go in and steal the fish, the opportunity arose and they took it. don't just assume it wasn't a member using mr as credit or what ever

maybe they were hungry :eat:
back to the topic, IF the person did wrongly claim they were an mr member, maybe mods could consider to make guests sign up to be able to read posts? i know anyone can make a username and not even make any posts, but at least we'll have a record of them being on the site. i think it adds a little bit of security.

this is a real good point. MR is a public site. anyone could log on get some info and then go out and use it to smear someones name.

chief has said it before many times, guard your personal info online, though it's hard to guard your screen name.

Stealing sucks and I hope the person who did it is caught.

That's pretty pathetic,I've heard that one owner of a "store" caught his employees stealing from his store and reselling on here. The person said it wasn't true and that the person is just a miserable person who is just making it up to be vindictive. Not naming names.Let's say they don't work there no more and moved on to better things.Temptation is always around but not steal fish?I've heard for exotic birds and dogs but not fish.Be like the "STORE"owner,be paranoid of everything and everyone.Wink wink.

Hopefully the person who did it will go to the swap and someone will be there to recognize him and call him out. If he is a true MR member I am sure he would want to be there.

Not now. He's probably reading this, planning his next move :irked:

I agree. If this person is actually a member of MR this thread has ruined any chance of catching the thief.

- He/she will definitely not step foot in the store again.
- He/she will not post pictures or questions about the fish.
