This month seems to be the month of disasters for a lot of people here..
who's tank cracked, sprung a leak...you name it.

heres mine, minor but still a problem..

On my return it kind of looks like a W with a twist I'll post a pic in my gallery if I don't have one already.. I have a vent pipe in the rear of it, something like a stack, the water only gos up about 2~3 inches past the T and the joint is leaking (small but I lost a few gallons over the past few days) I turned off my return pump and dried off the connector and put a good coat (but not to much) of PVC glue around it... how long do you think I should wait before I turn my pump back on? I know the glue drys fast but I'm not sure how fast. I'm going to change stands soon within a month so I'll probably make a new overflow so I don't have to deal with this again. I didn't use primer on this one and thats something I normally don't do, So it only needs to last a month or less...I need to get the new stand out of my garage...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

20 minutes should be fine. if the outside is dry it should be okay. Run some extra carbon, just in case.

If that doesn't work to fix the leak, try wrapping it with electrical tape. It will hold for a month.

the pvc cement bottle says 2 hours cure time....also pvc cement melts the plastic and bonds it together,.....if the hole is small....then i dont think you will have a problem,..you can see the excess pvc cement will look like a resin coating after its dried......and it will last a long time...you dont need to worry....

BTW,

They make a clear primer. The purple is used commercially so that an inspector can see that primer was used.

I've never seen it before, do you know who sells it?

BTW, it's didn't work..:( I came home tonight to a gallon to a gallon and a half on the floor... I do however consider myself very lucky it was only that much.
I made a new one, I didn't want to push my luck..right now the tank is running on an AC70 until tomorrow night (so I can air out the glue :skull:)

Oh, and I used primer on this one...

NOOO primer strips... Not good for repairing. Primer should only be used when prepping the tube to give you a smooth, clean and longer slip.
As far as getting clear Primer I found it in the home depot in the white plains tarrytown area. They don't carry it in the city because they hardly sell it due to the law requiring the purple primer for home piping.
Hope this helps.

when ur glue pvc together... use the primer to clean the pvc for a good bond on both pieces. Add the glue and push them together... holding them together tight give it a lil twist and hold again. If u dont hold them together they will seperate and u'll get leaks.
