Is there a rule against it on MR ? If there isnt, why don't the vendors list prices of the merchandise they are advertising? It would make shopping a lot easier.

If a regular member needs to list a price on an item they are selling because if they don't the thread will be closed by a mod, then I think a vendor should be required as well or there threads should be closed too...

Just browsing the vendor sales up right now on the home screen, HoF is the only one with listed prices. Sean, sorry but changing prices is not an excuse. Stores and websites have changing prices as well and they just update their listings. Different prices for different members is also wrong. If you are doing a friend a favor and giving a price break, then do it offsite or via PM but not on an advertised sale. Its one thing to ask a price on a specific item you are looking for but if you are browsing or comparison shopping, you can't send out 30 PM's and posts to get some prices. I dont know about others but when I walk into an LFS ( or any store ) for that matter, and there aren't prices listed, my BS alarm goes off and I usually walk right out.

Chief had a gripe about members not supporting vendors but vendors have to do their part as well.

in browsing the vendor rules section, it doesn't appear to be a requirement for vendors as many vendors have allot of inventory and have websites that list their prices.

I can see how much of a PIA this could be for vendors who own storefronts and are using their forum to attract you to their store and SEE the prices and inventory. Since vendors pay for their forums, its their choice to run it how they see fit. Our choice is to provide you with prices - that's our way to use our vendor forum. Not everyone has the same advertising objectives.

Healthy discussion on this topic should ensue - let's keep it civilized and I am sure some good should come of it.

Every vendor is different...some stores won't give you pricing over the phone either...it is just that sellers preference. It is really annoying sometimes but some people just won't change their policy. They want you to come in, more chance of selling the item or something else.

Honestly I think it's good the way it's set up.

A vendor shouldn't have to list prices. There's a lot that goes into pricing.

Most Vendors here are not stores where you can just walk in and browse, you need to make an appointment and you don't know what the price is a head of time, so for all you know you can be wasting your time, sometimes even have tolls and gas...

What goes into pricing? I own a store and a lot does not go into pricing...

A good way to loose business, people will shop elsewhere. In todays world people do not have time to waste, competition is to much and the easier you can make it for a customer the better off you are to stay in business...

I have seen stores come and go because they lacked pricing or something else on items and people just stop shopping with them, so they had to close down.

All you need to do is ask the vendor what the price is before you go. If you don't get a response then you shouldn't go and you should let the vendor know that he lost a potential sale because of it. If the Vendor see this, and determines he's losing sales from not listing prices, he may change his ways. But you need to remember it's up to the Vendor on how they want to run their business.

I know of a # of stores that don't even have prices listed on the tanks, and because of that they lose my business.

I was not referring to the vendors on MR, I was simply giving a similar situation.
