Lets see why many vendors do not respond fast enough in this forum-the key is THERE IS NO MONEY HERE.
Either the vendors don't know how to run business in this kind of forum business or they only treat this site as a side business(kind of like part time). Many venders find it not worthy to spend the amount of effort to respond to the site.
You list an item in CL and the response is much higher than MR and by the end of day, many members in MR wish to get the product below your cost. I know it sounds like I am a bad A$$$ but ask yourself, vendor and members-is that something you have in mind when you either wanna sell or buy an item here. Many just want good price and using lower quality pricing elsewhere to compare some of our good vendor(I don't say all of us are) with quality.
Prices of fish do change from time to time. Sometimes more than twice a week depends how many time we order. I shy away of live stock because of this. Most vendors here are small dealers, some with great heart to run the business with a favor of hobby in it while most online vendors are running them as a supermarket-large import, large sell, low low low price, you get what you don't see-vendors here usually are either runs it like "WYSIWYG" or pre order (you get what you don't see) but with a lower price than online supermarkets. To illustrate that I offer my rocks in ranges of prices: preorder-walsmith rocks usually lower than online vendors, cherry pick y yourself show pcs rocks at a rate much higher than pre order and close to the rate of most retail.
This request of listing prices on items(live stock and custom build stuff) is like the fight between supermarket and papa mama grocery in the old days.
Listing price of live stock is very hard because like HOF and Sean said there is a lot to go in pricing. Lets consider pricing two fish that come in at the same time: both 6" power blue tang and no sign of illness but only difference is vividness of the color. Should they be the same price? If same, customer who got the "not so bright" looking one would complaining the vendor of cheating by giving him the not so good looking one(customer also ask for beauty which I don't know how to list when shopping the fish) while if not same, customer will complain that the price is not is consistent(customer ask for online supermarket style shopping).
