Yeah Woodhaven Blvd, Queens Blvd and 63rd Dr are all great locations with a lot of bus and subway access. The problem is the clothing, food, hardware stores that open up there are too close to the malls so they can't compete. The area's only closest fish store is either the Petlands or the the one on Grand ave and Queens Blvd.
Also a bunch of stores on 63rd and Queens Blvd burned down and no one reopened. Biggest number of stores there are banks.

There is plenty of parking around Woodhaven...especially on the side streets. The area has great potential...don't forget that Aquatic Treasures did well for many years before the blackout, and it was a huge store. The pet shop that replaced it went under, but that's partly because it was a general pet store with no real focus on anything. That kind of a store cannot compete with Petland so close. In addition, it was a second store, and the owner couldn't support 2 stores in 2 neighborhoods. Aquatic Treasures was a dedicated aquarium store, focusing on corals (almost all LPS...he was just beginning to investigate halides and sps tanks when the blackout hit) and fish in SW, unusual cichlids in FW. He did a very good business, and people came from all over the area.

well here's my two cents.

no matter where the store opens up, if the product is good, reefers will come.
however, living on Staten island I would say that a good quality store would be good news. some will say "whats wrong with the stores there now? " well parking for one is a problem. how many times have I decided to just forget it simply because parking is a nightmare or the last summons just wasn't worth coming back.
And finally as an incentive, many new shopping centers are available that have the requirements not to mention plenty of parking and other stores that will bring in additional shopper traffic.

Try finding a storefront in the Union Square area. It is near all major subway lines and densly populated. It will attract anyone from other parts of the city to this area because people would hang out the surronding area either before or after seeing your new store.

Looked around a little yesterday, the rents are much higher than we expected. The average is $45-50 a foot:mad:.

A 4,000 ft store is about $16,000 a month.

That's a lot fish to pay the rent!

We still need to look for a few weeks but this isn't to encouraging.

What if you did business out of your home like alot of vendors here and learn take really pics? Good pics do sell. Also running a business out of your home could be a nice tax win fall.

Only a suggestion.

Thanks, but we're looking to setup a retail store, we don't want strangers walking into our homes.

One of my partners has connections to import the livestock directly, so we need space to keep say 60-80 boxes at a time that's why we're looking for about 4,000'.

Hey i think that petland discounts on atlantic ave is loosing a lot of customers basically because they dont care about the customers and they definetely dont care about the product that they sell maybe somewhere close by will be a benefit.
