Cleaning pumps?

I have a Sequence Marlin pump for my CL. It's been over a year since I set up my reef tank, and I'm thinkin' that maybe, just maybe, it's time to do a little maintenance on my pumps! :headache: I've got a big jug of white vinegar, but my question is, how do you soak an external pump like my Marlin? Do i just disconnect it from my CL, plug up the lower input line, and pour vinegar down the higher outflow pipe until the pump is full of vinegar and let it sit like that? Do pumps need to be manually rotated or (God help me) be running while you soak them?

I take the pumps apart and clean them out then put them back together.

I do the same a Sean. Take apart the external pump and soak the parts in vineger until clean and rinse with water and dry.....
