Like the question says. Is Salifert still the test kit of choice?
I read on a couple of other boards about a bad batch of kits.
Any comments appreciated.
i used them and liked them. This time around i decided to try the elos kits and I really like them alot. I am still fond of salifert, but i'll probably stick w/ the elos kits from now on.
Salifert is still a very good brand. The only test that's questionable is their phosphate kit.
The problem of the bad batch was limited to their Alk/DkH kit. That was ultimately resolved.
If you can spare the change lots of people are changing their phosphate test to the Hanna Phosphate Photometer. Supposedly it is infinitely more reliable than most phosphate test kits on the market.
Elos is the only company, as far as I am aware, that NIST certifies all their reagents. Basically every batch of reagents is tested by an outside lab and is exactly the same as the last and will be the same as the next. There can never be a bad batch plus they are easy to use and very accurate. I know the phosphate test has been compared to a hanna meter and they were dead on. It's the only test we use in the store since they are so consistent.
Swimmer I have a Hannah meter and use it regularly. I have used Salifert for all of my tests for over 5 years now. Price is reasonable and they came with a good reputation. I guess you answered my question regarding the bad batch and that was my main concern. I think I will try a mix of Elos and Salifert now that it is time to restock my test kits.
