is it possible for me to get stung by one of my corals and not feel it, cuz i was missin with my tank and like 20min later i got a bruse on my arm..:irked:

Never heard of a coral causing bruising, at least not without some other type of reaction. The nemocysts really don't work like that.

Your more likely to have bumped yourself while maneuvering around in the tank.

Yes, they can release things into the water and your arm might feel weird later on that day.

yes, but i don't think a coral sting will give you a bruise thro....a rash most likely but not a bruise

bruising is caused by blood vessels breaking underneath the skin. while nematocysts are stinging cells that enter your skin and release something into the surrounding flesh and generally irritate the skin causing bumps, rash, swelling, itching, redness, etc - it is possible that something stung you (which, by the way, you may not have felt at the time of the sting) that in addition to other trauma, caused blood vessels to break.

A picture would be worth a lot, though. I have been stung a few times (once by an anemone and once by jellyfish) and there was a distinct pattern to the trauma. Do you see any pattern to the bruise? Is there irritation in addition to the bruise?

Thats why I dont think you stung yourself, but rather got the bruise from bumping into something. I have been stung by jellyfish (same principal) on multiple occasions before, and while you could get stung and not feel it immediately, you would have a sever skin reaction if you where stung to the point of bruising.
