100g+ tanks, water change buckets?

I'm in the planning phases of a new tank. I happen to be remodeling my kitchen before I get the tank and I figured this is a good opportunity to get everything I need (water, drain, bucket) very close to the tank to make water changes and top offs very easy.

If you have a large tank, what sort of vessel do you use to store saltwater?

If you are using a bucket/trashcan, would you mind providing me with the measurement of the diameter and height of the can? I would like to put the garbage can into a closet/cabinet and need to know how big the cabinet needs to be to fit a standard size trashcan.

Josh, when you come up, you can measure everyting - I have a 55g drum for top off and a 15g for water changes. I do weekly 15g changes and do a 30 once a month (or if I need to treat for cyano) and use a rubbermaid to double the 15g capacity to 30 if needed.

My sumpt is hard-plumbed into my sink, so when I want to do changes, all I do is throw a ball valve and drain to the 15 or 30g line in my sump, refill and turn back on. Takes about 15 mins. I also plumbed the RO/DI wastewater into that same line as well as use it to feed my fuge and frag tank. Have to see it to understand

I'm definately going to see your tank before I start, but we are going to finalize the kitchen tomorrow, so I need a rough set of dimensions for the container.

OK - I was being lazy, sorry - I just went down and measured.

I did the measurements with a sewing measuring tape, so it could be an inch off here or there. Adjust accordingly if you have the room.

i use the large brute garbage can for water storage. you may want to hit up home-depot to see what size can you want. i am sure a search online (rubbermaid.com?) would show you the dimensions of the different sizes. / this is where Dean should come in...
