hello all, here is a picture of my 180 it's been up since May, late july I moved the contents of my 65 gal reef into this tank. I wish I had gone bigger!
I had the pleasure of meeting Tony at "reef exotics" his 450 is awesome!
I have the room, this winters project is to make a 450.
this tank and stand might be for sale

that looks great!
I think it's funny you just got that set up and you have plans to upgrade already.
you might as well keep that as a frag tank for the 450 :)

I originally got this tank when I was living in Staten Island. it was built to fit in a certian spot in the basement family room. when I retired my wife wanted out of the city, thats when we found this place here in vernon. the basement here is huge 1500+ sq ft. I never set the 180 up untill I brought it here.
it didnt take long for me to regret not going bigger!

I kind of like the idea of having a lot of fish in my reef tank

Frogman - Nice looking tank. I am in the same dilema. I am just putting the finishing touches on the basement(finally). Now I have to dewcide what size tank I want. I am trying to control myself while at the same time thinking that I will regrett not going bigger. If I ask my wife she will say - "NO TANK" and if I ask anyone on this site the answer will always be "BIGGER".
Just to stray off the topic, a week ago I was in the subway on the upper west side with a deltec Turbo1060/s skimmer. quite large and awkward looking thing when I got surrounded by police........... I tried to explain to them but they would not listen. Then out of nowhere this one policedude comes over and just says "thats a skimmer you dumba$$es, let him go"
That wasnt you by any chance was it?

Thanks!!!
no it wasnt me I'm retired now since january 2004 LOL
it's a young job and with all this terrorist stuff no one wants to get caught with thier pants down.
If I was still working though proably the only way you would run into me you'd have either be a stiff on the bottom of one of the rivers or in need of being rescued from the water. when I retired I was assigned to the SCUBA team and was there for 15 years

OMG, it finally happened. I was on the subway weeks ago with a old ro/di unit with a tds meter on it. I was so paranoid I wrapped it in a black garbage bag and stuck it in a shopping bag.
The fact one of the officers new what it was makes that one of the funniest stories, if you were delayed for an hour not so funny. could you imagine if they shut the station down due to a piece of reef equipment?

that's awesome, just make sure you have good dust collection or a way to close off the rest of the garage, otherwise you will be dusting off your cars all the time.

Ill take a pic of that monster of a skimmer one of these days next to me. When I got it I had no idea. All I knew is that it would be 24" high. Never took into account the width and depth or the weight for that matter.

gotcha! I was talking to a couple of friend last week that are still working. they are really expecting an attempt thats why the stepped up security.
My wife was a train conductor up untill June of 2002 when some kid decided it would be fun to punch her in the face as the train was pulling away. she still stays in touch with her co workers and they arent happy either about the situation. Sad that it's come down to this

right now I have a dual sage dust collection set up with a steel garbage can between the tool and dust collector. when I work I move the cars out all my tools are on dollies so I can move them around.
