Hey guys, I'm going to be moving soon so i have an opportunity to make some upgrades to my tank. Specifically I want to put in some teethed overflow boxes to the holes i've drilled. Now the holes are drilled kinda high (~ 1.5 inches from the black rim of tank) so do you think I should just put small overflow boxes around the holes, just enough to get my hand in there and remove a strainer. Or do you think I should have a full length one that reaches the bottom of the tank?
Mind you I have 3 outgoing pipes to box. And I'm asking about the overflow boxes that go on the wet side of the tank, cause currently it doesn't seem that a 90 degree elbow with a strainer is doing a very good job at surface skimming.

So what do you guys think?

I don't have any recent pics but this is the gist of it.

I have 3 of these 1 inch pvc holes, on on the back right side of 90 gallon, back left and back center. All on wide side back wall. Lights are off and phone camera sucks, might not be able to get good new pics tomorrow.

Pix are helpful, but without them I'd say you only need to have a box that surrounds the bulkhead. No need to go to the bottom if the hole is at the top. When you lose a fish or snail in there, you'll have an awful time trying to extricate the critter if it's all the way at the bottom.

Sometimes the easiest solution is the simplest design.

1" hole will handle 600gph and you have 3...so unless your pushing at least 1200 to 1500 gph then i dont see why you need 3 drains....or im not understanding what your trying to achieve...sorry...might be because of a long days work and its late...

I believe this is all you need...

http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/custom-king/35146-overflows.html

just rig a durso type pipe so it will be quiet...

Yeah I think that is what I need, but for the corner ones I only need a 3 sided one. I guess i'll contact custom king about it.
And the reason I want to convert one of my current return lines to an out line is cause the pipes are not going vertical they are going horizontal to my skimmer. So the drain speed doesn't seem too fast. I'll post pics in a second.

Ok as requested some photos of how it's set up at the moment. It's set up as 2 overflows 2 returns right now.
These are my current overflow lines.
