which RO/DI to buy

Hi guys,

I have looked at ebay and dont know which one to buy. 6stage?? Can anyone recommend any RO/DI unit that they used in the past? i dont have much room under the sink? Thanks for all the help.

Does it pay to buy it with the pressurized tank? What exactly does it do besides serve as storage for your water?

i have to disagree on the last comment about the tank. If you are planning to use the RO/DI for drinking water you need a tank, unless u want to drink out of a sump. If the unit is going to be only for tank refill then I would forego the storage tank.

Another vote for aqua-safe
The tank stores RO + carbon for drinking water, for your family 0.03 or you can buy bottled water at over 0.22 TDS

Its used with the faucet.

Then you install a Tee & ball valve, shut off the storage tank turn the ball valve and you have RO/DI water through a hose for your reef.

For me it does a lot more then take up space.

Robert's actually where I got the idea for the ebay unit and it working out great.

i think all RO/DI units is the same, the only real difference is the RO membrane. I think a large amount of the membrane is filmtec. The amount of water made per day is the driving cost of the unit.

Yuck!! Not only is that unit being shipped from Taiwan, the final price on that unit is $97.49; there are better prices on eBay than that.

Many people say six stages in NYC is overkill. It all depends on your tap TDS.

I got mine from Aquatic Reef systems several years ago, and paid about $200 for the unit. I've changed the membrane which is the guts of the units from different venders. As for the unit from ebay, how is their customer service? and quality of the product.?
Cheap is good, but not always the best if the componets break within a year. Six stage RO/DI in NYC is too much, 5 is usually plenty.
