I am considering going from AQUAC EV180 w/mag 9 to EV240 w/mag 18, but I would need to make room in my sump by getting rid of a remote deep sand bed. The RDSB is about 7" deep, 1' wide and 1' long.
My main goal is nutrient export. This is a 125 gallon tank with a fuge hooked up that also has about 7" sand bed that is also 1' x 1'.
I would like to get some opinions whether I should get rid of one of the dsb and install larger skimmer.

I would do both.

DSB is mainly just for nitrate export, imo I think it works better than a skimmer in terms of nitrate removal if you can make it work properly. On the other hand, skimmers function is to skim out nutrients before it has a chance to breakdown. Supposedly, skimmers will remove stuff that produces nitrate and phoshate and probably silicate.

Hope this helps.
I am sure someone else can explain it better.
