Does anyone have any idea why the Eheim pump on my reactor would be cavitating?

I shook it and basically turned it upside down to get all of the air out of the chamber. I took the pump off and put it in a bucket of water to test it and after getting the air out it started right up. I put it back on the reactor and it gives off the just tiniest clicking sound every now and then.

Does anyone know how I can verify that the circulation pump is working properly? I can't see anything moving in the reactor and I want to verify that the water is circulating.

cavitating meaning bubbles in the pump and it isnt starting? if so :D, It happens to me a lot as well for my eheim 1262, i just shake it, plug and unplug and let it run for a little, the magnet gets stuck and fails to spin.
