I recently purchased a product from a reefer and paypal the payment of $295 for the product on 11/27/08. I receive his message and says I'll receive the shipment on 12/9/08 (tuesday). I didn't receive this shipment and paid 45 s/h through fedex, so the seller claims.

Today is Thursday 12/11/08 and I went back to the forums and tried to search his info, not much returned but found out some info through Reefcentral that this dude has a history of scamming products.

I did a quick google on the guys name (found on paypal account) and found this http://ripoffreport.com/reports/0/323/RipOff0323078.htm.

As a newb, I was stupid enough to buy something w/o really looking all over the internet about scammers. Sorry if I sound very angry, but this moment I'm very heated and have lost confidence in buying online.

The amount has now been withdrawn through paypal and through my CC now. Im not sure what actions i can take now since I lost my money, and have no product. Worst part, the dude hasn't replied to my messages with a TRACKING #.

What a horrible day.:irked:

If you paid through paypal, you can file a dispute with paypal and most likely get your money back. Paypal will try to contact the seller and get proof from him that he sent the package. Once he is unable to prove it, your $$ should be refunded.

yea i agree with Tangs Rule, even though the payment was sent out, you should still be able to dispute this with paypal, if indeed he shiped the package but was lost in shipment, he should still have a receipt of shipment from the carrier, if he doesnt have any proof he send the package out, im sure paypal will refund your money

something similar happen to my cousin once, he was selling a smart phone, he shipped it out but the seller never recieved, paypal asked for proof of shipment. my cousin had the receipt and paypal left him alone, week later the buyer did recieved the phone lol

hopefully they can work something out and you will get your money back
GL!

i saw his posting through www.nano-reef.com

and paid through paypal - seemed legit at first but been MIA for 2 days and claimed I'll receive my package by 12/9/08. i got myself into a mystery then started doing checks on this dude.

I did some research on his background and noticed he had a history of scamming through RC. For all, happy holidays beware of internet fraud.

Thanks MR members - I've filed a dispute with PP. Hopefully i get some good response.

Same Here, Except I Also Called The Local Police On The Person And Reported It To Internet Fraud, They Didnt Do Crap, But Ebay Got The Money Back, And If It Was Paid Through A Credit Card You Can File With Your Cc

Just a warning about PayPal; you can only make one claim per a transaction. Here is a possible scenario (which I have already been through):
-You pay via PayPal
-Seller never sends goods
-You make a claim on ?non-receipt of goods?
-Seller sends part and gives tracking info to PayPal
-Part is received damaged or not as described (in my case it was a box full of newspaper shredding)
-PayPal does nothing to protect the buyer because of the golden rule ?One claim per a transaction?

Just a warning. It?s NOT always best to make a claim right away..

OH MAN!

I file a claim to the seller and posed two options, 1) a full refund or 2) providing a tracking #.

I sent him another PM hopefully he responds, I'm keeping my cool but if i dont get a legit response; im escalating my claim to Paypal Claims and let them deal with it - if they do anything.

Sometimes. Sometimes you also get the no shows (aka flakes) who have no sense of common courtesy (aka no manners) to tell you that they no longer want to buy an item, so you spend your time holding something for them on the goodness of your heart.

Other times, you get fantastic people.

Like everywhere else, some people are just jerks, some people are awesome, and it doesn't matter where you meet them. MR, Reefcentral, @ a bar.

Best of luck on getting your money back.

man some people really suck. karma will get him.

that's why dealing with people via MR in person is the way to go.

Don't mean to bum you out, but if he's really a scammer, Paypal can't do crap.
They'll recover your money no problem, IF AND ONLY IF, he's left it in his Paypal account. If he's a real scammer, he would have cleaned out his account. Then Paypal can't do jack.

If you paid through Paypal via a credit card, go through the credit card instead. They are much more consumer friendly than paypal..
Best of luck/
