What size sump for a 210g FOWLR?

I will be upgrading my 180g FOWLR to a 210g and was wondering what size sump will I need? I will be running an in-sump skmmer and an in-sump return pump as well. The opening on my current stand is 20" on both of the big door openings and 25" high inside the stand. Will a 40g breeder be enough? Thanks!

it really depends on how high the water level in the sump is and how much water will drain down when you loose power or shut off your system

I would not go with something that big IMO just incase you ever have a problem with it how do you get it out?

What problems do you have with a well thought out sump?? Stop playing foot ball in the house and you won't smash the sump,,,lol just messing with you.. I never had any problems... And have always kept a sump 3/4 the size of the display up until two years ago it was purely for more water volume.. Now I like the idea of it being a fuge / sump / someplace extra water goes in case of a power outage... +Never had an over flow problem..

a 55 gallon should be good. I have a 30 gallon on my 150 gallon and works fine. Im going to upgrade to a 55 gallon so i can fit more equipment in the sump. I also have a in sump skimmer and in sump return. i also have in sump pumps for my phos reactor and for my uv light, and sock an it all fits into the 30 gallon. I want to add a carbon reactor so in need more space.

I guess a 40 breeder would be sufficient....I will also be adding a check valve to prevent an overflow in the sump; it has saved me many times:tongue1:....

The main problem with a 55 as a sump is most good skimmers wont fit in it if you are going to go the 48'' route I would go with a 75 gallon

I have an aga 210 on a standard pine stand with a 20 gallon fuge as well as a 40 gallon sump all underneath the tank..with an external skimmer that sits outside the tank footprint. 1) I will never buy a short stand again and put equipment underneath...unless I absolutely cannot relocate somewhere else!!!!...very dificult to work on and even harder to clean...in addition you run out of room quick!!!! 2) I would go larger on the sump if I had the room...especially if you are including your skimmer inside of it...just my 2 cents...sorry for getting a little off the subject...:splitspin

go as large as you can , in case you ever want to do a frag tank, fuge, etc. I have a 180 and my sump is prob 75 gallons with about a 45 gallon capacity. Nice to have the extra room. More volume the better as was said above
