ERRR!!!! total waste of time!!

I hit 2 LFS in NEw jersey today what a waste of time
Both shops were on route 22
first was pet shanty in scotch plains
had a large saltwater section but IMO tanks were not well kept, tons of micro algae, cyno everywhere, fish had no color,
the corals were mostly LPS and softies all very common species.
They did have a very large todstool they claim is 18 years old it was easy 18"X 12" wide.
as far as dry goods... well petland and petco are a better choice

the second shop was Ocean Gallery further down the road in plainsfield.
again a big saltwater section and pretty much on par with pet shanty. what really pissed me off after spending a good 1/2 looking around and waiting for help ( I need a new Alkalinty test kit) I asked saleman for the kit and he seemed clueless and walked away from me and started to help someone else.


Niether were worth the gas I spent to go there

There use to be a Ocean Gallery in Monticlair and then the open another store, Ocean Gallery II, in plainsfield. The store use to be really good specially the one in Monticlair but there are different owners now.

I work very near that place, about 10 minutes from Route 22. OG2 sucks. There's one young kid, he is so freaking nasty and I found out he is the owner's son, so go figure. Pet shanty's owner is very knowledgable however the store is pretty old. Yeah, they really don't have healthy live stocks.

But you should've checked out this place call Garden Oak. It's west of OG2, about 5 miles, maybe little more. Very small place but they got some nice live stocks. This is pretty new place so very clean and very friendly. You should check it out next time you go near that place, highly recommended.

I was there earlier this week love thier set up but some things are very pricey!

animal House on rt 23 in butler RJ is a great guy they have not a large selection of salt but what they have is really nice hardy and healthy.
I bought my clown tang at reef encounters and he's doing fine.

I go to reef encounters a lot as well. I guess a little too much they all know me there...hehe I think I'll check out animal house when do they usualy get there shipments? Have you ever been to fish town or NWA?

Animal house I got it at his cost for 150.00 FT is way out of the way for me I've been to NWA but too much of a hassssle to park. No public transportation from vernon. besides I have a severe allergy to the NYC MTA
