And there isn't really anything special with that clam.

Yeah it's just large. You also need a good size tank to hold it. It's funny as some of these clams get larger they're not as colorfully as when they look smaller.

It is no kidding about 1.5 feet long and 1 foot wide.

Nope, that is when it was in the main tank, about two years ago. It has grown alot since, and takes up 1/2 of a 30 gallon tank.

That's Tony's (acropora) clam.
I've seen them in his 450g tank and they are huge. There were two of them side by side the last time I was there.

I'm not sure if they would in an inclosed system. But who knows?

What it does do is release sperm, alot of it, and that stimulates the others clams I have to do the same. When I had two derasa clams they would constantly release sperm (almost every week), but I never saw eggs. Maybe I just had two males and need a female, , somewhere in the mix.
