uploading video from my verizon phone

I've been trying to find a way to convert some video from my verizon phone.

It's saved as a strange file .3g2 , nothing will work with these movies.

they will open in quicktime on my mac, but I can't upload them to any of the hosting sites. is this some strange format verizon came up with?

Not an expert, but I've heard others complain there's no way to upload images/video.

If it opens in Quicktime, open it in Final Cut and then export to whatever format you want

it looks like to work on the files on a mac there are no free options, the cheapest is to get quicktime pro, 30 bucks from apple.
