Clams in Refugium

do the oysters need sand bed? i 've seen clams bury in the sand bed but never seen oysters in a reef tank. what type of oysters can live in warmer reef temp.? do they sell them in the super market?
what's safer, in term of possible pathogens/disease, clams or oysters?
