Ich is a parasite and even though stress can cause a fish to get ich it doesn't cause it. Stress just makes it hard for a fish to fight it off.

That sounds a bit contradictory - "even though stress can cause a fish to get ich it doesn't cause it.?
As I said..., "stressed promotes ich."

Dizbwayne states that the fish is in a separate tank.

For a new tank that is too many fish.
1 fish should have added slowly.

That system mentioned above is not right at all...

i use to have fresh water fishes and when the fish had ich i would usually take out the rocks and leave it outside so the sun kills off the bad bacteria in the tank. i know its very diffivult to take the ich out. i dont really believ the medication for ich works that well but i am treating them. This is goin to be a pain in the butt and most annoying part of having fishes.

myth/real?does ich live in rocks or just on a host?
i also put medication in the main tank, is that good?
i have the UV running

what should i do?
should i stop the wetdry?
leave light on so they continue fighting ich?

thankyou for everyone's help. i still want to know how you do the garlic soaked food?

:headache: NO meds in the main tank, dude!
Ich will be present in a tank for about a month with no fish, then they'll die off with no host.

But if your set-up isn't right it'll happen all over again~

If your water condition is good, your fish will fight off ich. I think you need skimmer.

The egg of ich will remain in your tank, even if you take all your fish out from main tank. The cycle became egg to be hatch is about 4 weeks, but let your tank without fish for 6 weeks for sure. Meanwhile, if you have tank big enough to hold your fish, you can treat with copper. You do it slowly increase copper level til .2-2.5ppm.

Hope it works, And someone in expert will tell you detail about it below.

Dizbwayne,

Have you tested the water from your tank yet? If yes what are your parameters of your tank. You mentioned that you separateted the fish from the main tank where did you place them? These fish need a lot of space so if you place them in a small space it will stess out the fish even more. Remember the ick is on the fish already if you whant to treat them the best way will be to have a qurintine tank that has been cycled already and treat them there and not in ther main tank. If you don't have quarintine tank then you will just have to make your fish as happy as possible so they can fight this off them self ex.good water qulity and keep them well fed

They do sell medications that claim to be reef safe for ick I have tried one called (ruby reef kick ick) to no avail. I have a half a bottle some were in my closet. you can have it if you want.

I'm not trying to be hard on you just need more information so we could steer you in the right direction.

one important rule and one of the hardest to follow is the slower you go the better.

I made many mistakes in the begining and lost a lot of fish. Thank God I learned a little from my mistakes and now the fish last much longer.

There no contraction there, ich is a parasite and stress doesn't cause this parasite to exist but what stress does do it cause a fish to be more substabile to catching it. Just like when you get run down there is a better chance for you to catch a cold or virus.

Also Eel can get it however rare it does happen.

thanks a lot guys i think the best bet is to start of fresh i already put the medication in the main tank, out of stress to myself. so now i need to change all of the water and cycle again and wait until a month and a half. Im so pissed at myself.
