Putting water in the tank and running out to buy some fish few days later is not a hobby; it is killing animals and wasting your money.

A hobby is something you do to kill time(and maybe some money) and take your mind off your daily routine or stress. At least that is why I enjoy this hobby. A ?hobbyist? should read a lot about everything they PLAN to buy or do for their tank, not just do it and ask why it doesn?t work for them, that is just plain inpatient and lazy.

Ink you need to remember that unlike alot of other hobbys your dealing with living things here and care needs to be given to these living things.

Recently there have been alot of post about people buy corals & fish and having them die and then going right out and just buying more corals or fish, and in some case the same item, only to have the same thing happen again.

People need to take some responbility in what they're doing with these corals & fish so even though some of the responses may seem a little harsh they're are in some cases needed.

Without sounding like a parent....STOP blaming the snail!! Snails, fish and clams all die in tanks (mature ones) all the time without wrecking the havoc your attribute to your snail's demise.

On another note, like marrone said, many CBBs and regal angels have been bought recently despite advice given by members. Now everyone wants to keep difficult specimens. Even I bought what I thought was a male Genicanthus knowing they are difficult to maintain in captivity. What I won't do, is keep buying until I find the "one" that survives...that's just cruel.

with Chris it's different he just didn't start he had his 30 gal running for like 8 month then upgraded to a 65 he didn't have any fish die on him on the 65. Don't assume that just because he don't know why there's not much algae growing that he's patient. his a good guy and he loves this hobby> i know that because he's a very good friend of mine!

If you look at some of Chris post from the last couple of days you'll see that he was excepting to just transfer everything over from his 30gal to his 65gal and not have any problems and everything just take off. It's not that simple and it does take time, which a couple of people have told him.

I think some times people get caught up in getting the tank setup and getting it fully stock and except certain thing to happen right away and when they don't they just start going a little crazy guessing that some thing isn't right because it didn't happen right away not realizing that things do take time and every tanks is different.

Hey defending your friend is a good thing..

However, anyone been in the hobby for less then a year and already have upgraded once is a newbyyyy, his use of Marc Weiss Booster tells me he does not do much research for his hobby.

I was not making a personal attack on him, just offering my opinion about being a hobbyist. He can take it or leave it.

Manhattan Reefers:

Ok just for the record everyone, lets go back and see what i intially wrote and what the question was , " if the USE of Weiss booster would increase a boost in good algae growth that i could see so i know eveything is in check", (i know its a cycle booster but it also says for established tanks thats why i asked)..I know what a cycle is as i know what the parameters should be blah blah blah, i know i have no patience i will agree on that but doesnt mean i should get out of the hobby i had a pefectly nice reef tank in my 30g without any problems, now upgraded and havent seen anything showing (like coraline, any kind of algae on rocks etc....) i do have fish because they came from my 30....

Up until now i thought i could rely on this site and for the most part i can but...some people need to relax a simple question and answer would have been fine and thank you to those who helped, i do appreciate it (good looks Kuya).....and i am not killing anything in the process here, everything is doing fine.....i think i am past a newb standing due to all the beginner question i had with the 30g but i plagued those on saltwaterfish with that, than came here...so i hope this puts everything into perspective!!! Thanks again......

Chris flush the Marc Weiss products....they do absolutely nothing! As you said you have a little cyano algae in the tank which is a start. Every new tank goes through some sort of algae cycle while Ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates may remain at 0 since you have transferred your livestock from a previous tank.
