Speed Up Algae Growth?

dont let them put you down man. listen dont worry i had a 29 gallon with 30 lbs of live rock set up and i cycled the tank with 2 raw cocktail shrimp to build up bacteria. 2 weeks later checked the water it was perfect no ammonia no nitrites and no nitrates. i added the 1st fish then the next day added another then added my skimmer and some more live rock. then a week later added another fish and a clean up crew. my tank is 2 months old and just got some hair algae on the back glass and some on the rocks. alot of coralline algae has been developing. guess what i already started my 75 gallon tank. hehehe. they can say newby but u no what i love this and if you want to do what you want to do jus do it. dont let n e one stop you. people just have some bad days. dont let them get to you AND INK IS THE MAN lolz.. pretty much if your looking for coralline algae check your water for alk and CAlcium and dose what is recommended.

I HAVE NO PATIENCE EITHER... i hate waiting it sucks. but i am taking my sweet time with the 75 gallon cause its in my basement and its going to be a pool hall room with a couch and everything.. so it has to be extremely nice. something that nice takes time and lots of money. but anyways im 2 months into my 29 gallon and its perfect. do it up chris. show em what your capable of. good luck with everything.

Chris I have always used either Cycle from nutrafin or Seachem Prime to help jumpstart my cycle/reduce fish loss during water changes and additions of new livestock. All any Mark Weiss product does is take your money and give you a bad product. The tank has to cycle over again anyway. If you saved your sand and water it is better IMO. Just give it time and keep testing. Remember too that everytime you add a fish or do a water change your tank goes through a mini cycle too so go slow like you were doing with the smaller tank I'm sure. Good Luck!!

You don't need any of these cycle products. Live rock has enough bacteria to initiate the nitrogen cycle.

What's funny about this thread is that even the people "comforting" Chris are still telling him to take it slow, be patient and test parameters (sounds familiar). There are few, if any shortcuts to a successful marine aquarium.

i havent seen this silly question posted here before.

Chris, do you have any lights on your tank? in case you were waiting for it to cycle before adding fish/coral/lights the algae will not grow without sufficient light.

This shouldn't happen if you have enough biology filtering. You should have an increase in ammonia, depending on the size of the fish, but you shouldn't go through a mini-cycle. Same go for a water change as if anything the water change will actually help your tank unless you do a very large water change and it stocks your system.

and nah i dont get stressed about this just alittle poed that no one actually reads the entire thread instead of saying oh no that wont work weiss products are garbage i get you are a fish killer newb that is going through his first cycle lol ....now thats funny....
i honestly wish i had my 30g going right now cause the wait is killing me but whatever i think i waited 3 months before things starting to show during the tank as well.....but one last time for those who just read this i did transfer my 30g water and fish and sand w.some new sand (have a deep sand bed) from an established tank with lots of rock over 70lbs worth plus my old rock...so natural filtration is in the works, with a new skimmer and a sump i think i am good to go just havent seen much in the past 3 weeks to show for thats all...... oh yeah and water is fine levels are inconsistant though in the alk depart but yes i do have lights pcs 2 10000ks and 2 acntics...sometimes i even run my strip light with the pcs for extra light...........ok i am done now .......this post got nuts....lol....

Chris I really think you need to read through the thread because everyone, even the people that where on your side, said to be patient. The killing fish, corals and being a newbie wasn't direct at you but at everyone in general as there are alot of new people here who are going a little crazy with buying corals and fish and then excepting that with in a month everything to look like a tank that been running for years and is fully mature.

As for people opinion on products you'll find that alot of the products out there are garabage or cheapier substitutes can be used for pennies on the dollar. Alot of people don't want to listen sometimes when people put down certain products and you need to realize that the person putting down the product has either used it or knows of other people who have and they know it doesn't work. They're just looking to save you money and time so don't shoot the messenger take the advise and maybe even do some more research on your own.

Your absolutely right for the most part but enough on this subject i know what i gotta do and i know what not to do, i am officially closing out this thread ...
