im getting a brownish red color type film in my filter sock area and also in my filter sock,i put new phos media in the reactor last week i rinced it real good before putting it in,im using a maxijet 600 on it but i have it turned lower then the pump puts out id say its getting 1/2.Is this going to cause a problem for me i have turned it off till i get an answer what should i do?Thx RJ

The flow rate should be turned to the point where only the top 1/2" to 3/4 " of the phosban is moving around. More than that and the Phosban will break up and deposit that reddish color into your tank.

Are you running any carbon?

You could of used a MJ400 instead but as long as you use the valve,it should be okay.

Did you let it run into a bucket when you first started to get out the fine stuff from shipping? If you reed the instructions they also say DO NOT LET THE MEDIA TUMBLE OR IT WILL BREAK DOWN AND GO BACK INTO THE TANK.

my main question will the little amount of color from the phosban hurt my tank till it is filtered out,i also put some fiber filter in to help collect it.
