No matter how many anthias (various species), or chromis I throw into my tank I am always left with 1 lone survivor of each fish (i.e. 1 chromis and 1 anthias). I have a 125 reef, with 2 small tangs and a large angelfish, and a pair of clowns. I am not sure if I am not feeding enough, if the angel is killing them, or if it is interspecies competition.
Any thoughts?

I just had a flash back to 5 year ago when i had my 125 gal with about 18 blue green chromis and it's feeding time watching them school back and fourth in that 6 foot long tank.I currently have 10 in my 110 gal with tangs and an emperor angel and 11 in my 90 gal some of them i have for about 3 years. In MO they don't travel well but after a week if you have any left alive you need pristine water quality, oxygen rich water and feed daily if you what to keep the blue green chromis alive.I have some pics of them in my photo gallery feel free to check them out.

If the problems were water conditions you would eventually be left with zero. The fact that one remains tells us something. Or maybe not. Maybe they die off in captivity and after a while you are left with the last to go who also eventually goes.

Blue green Chromis love to fight with each other even in schools. The Blue reef ones are more peaceful but are more difficult to keep.
I don't think they love to fight but i do think they need a lot of room to swim... if you have a larger one in the school he will show a little domination nothing serious in MO.

Nice Dre. Are anthias the same way (very clean water, feed daily).
As far as anthias go i never found the cuts to try with them because they are usually expensive and don't ship well either in MO but i will definitely try them in the future... preferable some from a member.

I am interested in Anthias and I was told the same thing about feeding small amounts throughtout the day.
You could use an automatic feeder but wouldn't it feed all the fish?
just curious because i really love the look of the fish and I have heard they have great personality.
