So I went to Florida last week with the family, only to come back with a broken heart and loss of three of my fish, one blue devil, one four striped damsel and my most prestigious fish thus far, a yellow tang. Damn it!! I was just started to get the hang of this. I had my dad come and try to maintain it but it didn't work out to well.( I KNOW I know :duh
. My chemical balances all sky rocketed, AMMONIA, NITRATE, PH, Nitrite were through the roof. I'm surprised I had two survivors. When I got back Saturday, I did a 50 percent water change and the balances seem slowly to be coming down as I have quarantined the fish. It just sucks, you spend so much time and work and all it takes is one week for a catastrophic event. So whats the moral of the story folks? Hire a professional if your gonna be gone for a while..
Also I am pretty sure that I will be joining the air force really soon, how much do you think it will cost, if I have some one every week come and maintain the tank per week? I will probably be gone for five months, and I still want my fish tank to be maintained while I'm gone. Makes no sense to ask the wife and try to put the burden on her to clean it. I dont want to shut it down, and I am willing to spend some money, but I just want an estimate?
