Question for the Tang Police.
At FT they have Hawaiian yellow tangs for $14.99 about 1.5" head to tail.
Can I keep it in my 26g to control some of the C. algae for some time before it gets too big?

The way I see it, it depends on the person. While the tang is a small juvenile its ok to keep it in there. Aslo inline, you seem like a good guy on this board and quite serious. You are definitely in this hobby to stay. And you will upgrade sooner or later and you can transfer to the larger tank! :D

For algae problem in a smaller tank, try use turbo snails from FT and maybe a lawnmower blenny.

My yellow tangs are picky as to which algae they will eat, red slime is not one they will eat.

I don't think there are any "tang police" on this board, just some people caring more about fish\live stock than others. I would give the same sarcastic replies if they are putting 15 damsels in a 20 gallon tank.

Some times in a small tank it easier to take out the rocks and just use a tooth brush to scrub off the algae. Then let the hermits and turbo finish off what left, if anything.

Considering the fish, tangs, rabbit fish and angels that I have in one of my tanks the tang police would have to send over a whole squad to take care of me :)
