Ok, I just bought a Sixline Wrasse from Garden Oak in NJ. I paid $11, I think that's pretty good price. He looks so nice. I am still working atm and I can't wait to go home. Is there any special diet I need to know about this fish? I believe they eat anything but anything special stuff I need to do for him? Thanks.

Six Line

House of Laughter said:
Savager,

That six line will eat anything (food) you put into your tank. At least mine does and is the largest (by anticipated body size) than any fish in my tank. Ask anyone who has seen it, it is a monster.

:)

House

Got mine at FT and is relatively small, likes alot of rock work and is very curious and eats bristle worms, doesnt like the mysis so much as the flakes...but anything but a bully being the smallest in the tank....

I have a problem. I have 1 clown fish and 1 yellow stripe neon goby in my tank. And I just added my new 6line in the tank and this goby is going after wrasse like crazy. And my wrasse is scared shitless. I turned my light off on my aquarium and my wrasse is hiding under the rock.

I think his tail is already got ripped alittle. DAMN, I hate this little bastard. I would this yellow neon goby out but that's impossible. And I don't think if I can take wrasse out :(

What should I do? I was worrying about my clown being bully on this new addition, I never thought this small goby will cause this problem :(

damn, I hope it gets better tomorrow but I am not sure if that's going to happen.

This is a quote from petsolutions about Yellow Stripe Neon Goby,

Peaceful with any fish except its own kind, plenty of space should be provided if more than one are to be kept in the same aquarium as they do establish territories that they will defend from other Gobies.

Is Wrasse same as goby? Are they same species?

Wrasse and goby are different species, that why they have different names. ;)
Neon gobies are usally very peaciful and most of the time just hang around on rock and do nothing. In this case yours is being very territorial and is attacking, I would just give it some time as they should settle down and the wrasse will be fine. The fins will heal so don't worry to much about it.

Re-arrange some rock work and the territory thing may subside quicker. Or trap the goby and get rid of him. I'm sure someone here will be happy to take him from you.

I have a sixliner and he has been a pest from time to time.He bothered my mandarin when first introduced for a couple of hours but stopped. He also bothered my brazilian gramma also when first introduced but the brazilian now puts him into place. A very active swimmer. Will eat anything in tank at least mine does. Everything from flake, pellet, and frozen.

mine wont let me add any other wrasses to the tank (in a 187) which is sad as there are a lot of others i would have loved to have.
