great john well, on witht he quest, i checked out litermeter's site, and did some reasearch on those pump, with a litermeter we still have to get two pumps, because the litermeter III comes with only 1 pump, also the litermeter is the same medical pump build into it, it still uses a roller and a tubing like the rest of the medical pump. but people have been reporting that they have been using the same tubing on the LTMIII for over 4 years and have great results im guessing we only need to get good quality tubing. Im gonna ask the medical reef doser guys about their pumps.

for those running CR and reporting a a Mg problem, have you ever used dolomite in your reactors?

A friend of mine runs a 550g setup (total volume) and he told me had the same problems, but after he added dolomite his low levels went away completely, this is what pushed me to get a CR myself.

maybe the lack of mixed media used is to blame?

yes dolomite will answer to your CA reactor's demand of MG dolomite is CaMG(Co3)2 Calcium Magnesium Carbonate

I'm using A.R.M in my Ca reactor I've used about 1/5 of the media so far.
dosing mg really isnt a problem I dose 250ml daily (raises total mg about 15PPM)
I test once a week. strontium I dose 20ml once a week.


I used to add 16-20oz a day of each part I- Bionic and alk was never stable always low.

I just yesterday lowered my co2 in my ca reactor alk was 13DKH and calcium was 480.

tank looks great and corals showing growth and color.
I just checked my ORP lights are still out and it's 379mv
still no ozone

Only problem with adding a bit of dolomite to your reactor is that you need to run the PH kind of low for the dolomite to dissolve. So if your running ARM like I do, the dolomite won't dissolve at a PH of 6.7 or higher.

Use Schuran media, they won't turn mush even at ph of 6.0
The price is pretty good too. That's what i'm currently using.

Sam, How low do you run your reactor PH at? No problem with it lowering the ph of the tank water?

I use dolomit in my reactor and so far it does not keep up with the MG depleation rate, I average about 1 to 2 pounds of epson salt a month in addition.

I run it 6.3
My tank's demand for calcium & alk is on the low end side. So my reactor is on for several hours a day while the light is on, so i don't have much issue on that. But if i need to cramp more cal and alk out, I would probably bump into the same problem.

My effluient is 6.55/6.6
using A.R.M, it hasnt turned to mush and it runs 24/7 365days
I have huge load (MHO) and so far so good.

I dont think I'd want to run my effliuent PH any lower
my tank stayed at 8.3 before the reactor, stays at 8.0-8.1 now
I dont always dose kalk but as soon as I finish my Kalk reactor I'll plumb it in with my top off system
