Does anyone have a tank set up without crabs? If yes what do you have that has been successful?
What do you use for the following

Keeping sand clean

Keeping algae off the glass

Keeping Algae off rocks

Etc.

would love some proven results.

Diamond Goby is great for keeping the sand stirred but there is a downside to them lol. They love to bury things, build giant mountains of sand and other such things. Mine is about 4" long and loves to build 12" high mountains in my tank over night that I have to knock down in the morning.

Snails of many varieties. Gobies and sand sifting starfish. I am encouraging all smaller life like stromatellas and mini brittle stars. Scarlet hermits are very tame about as reef friendly as a crab can get given a supply of empty shells.
