I'm curious to know what all of you do with your used or new but cracked bulbs.

I know they can be toxic and I'd like to figure out the best way to dispose of them and if any parts (the pins/attachment) are worth salvaging?

I recently received a 96 watt actinic in the mail that was cracked and is now being replaced. I'mnot sure what the best way to dispose of it is. I assume it's more toxic then a used bulb?

Any advice for both used and new-but-cracked bulb disposal?

Thanks

If its cracked, I dump it in the trash carefully. There's mercury in there so if its cracked, its only by accident or it cracked itself from the heat of being on or something. If its still in tact, recycle or give it to someone who wants used bulbs for a fuge or something.

you should really try and recycle used bulbs, its important to keep that mercury out of landfills. Any homedepot should have a receptacle. If its broken where a dust mask and sweep the pieces into a bag. I've also heard that wetting it keeps the carcinogens from becoming airborn
