I had a wet-dry and converted it to a fug style because I had it in my head that I wanted to run a reef and every one talks so bad about Bioballs but I have changed my mind for now at least! anyway--- ABout the idea what if I leave the filtration as is and just set up my corner over flows:yo: as a wet-dry trickle system? It sounds good in my head?:google:

use rubble instead of bioballs..take out your 1in drain pipe dray 8 strait lines top to bottom all the way around and drill as amy holes as you can.. the LR will filter the water in the overflow and then drain down into the sump for you mechanical filtration..not sure how well itll work but just an idea....

but whatever you do the bio balls will create a higher nitrate issue so whatever u go with us rubble intead..

Well, My idea is to make a wet dry trickle in the over flow so I guess I can drop the stand pipe to about 4'' add egg crate put the bios in with a drip plat on the top with some filter pads thats it!?

That would give me 300 gallons of bio filtration and my tank is only 135.. plus LR.

unless you put a ton of fish in that tank the lr you have will be enough... your better off treating a fowlr like a reef tank than a fo tank when it comes to filtration. if you absolutely feel the need to put something in ur overflow line it with pura filtration pad and swap it out once a month, and prolly better off leavng the stand pipe in... theyre noisy as $%^ with out one. filling overflow with rubble is prolly more trouble than its worth, just put the lr in the tank instead, or set up a fuge in the sump.
