Hi everyone,
I would like to share this experience with you all.It never seemed like a big deal at first but then again most people will never witness such an event first hand even more seldom in a small home tank. Some might say it's darn right impossible ,well i'll shot them up later.
Anyway i was up late last night working on the circulation, the lights went off and i turned on the actinics to finish the work.I noticed a mist but thought nothing of it ,after 30 min.i realized one of my Blasto. colonies were excreting the mist which i now think were sperm cells. After observing more carefully to my amazement the other Blasto. colonies stated releasing what i now think were eggs.I ran for the camera unfortunately i was unsuccessfull because i didn't have a good camera to capture anything in detail after standing by the tank for over an hour ,then it dawned on me to capture the eggs as proof to the event and most important for the nonbelievers.I would be more than happy to give you some of the eggs ,you can get it analized for yourself .Pics were taken eight hours after ,seem like they are changing shape and color.

Just because spawning occurred does not mean fertilization was successful and it certainly doesn't mean the eggs will develop normally or at all in to viable planulae that then need to settle themselves in the appropriate place in order to grow and turn into coral. The chances of all these things happening in aquaria are very slim. But, having them release gametes is an achievement in itself and you never know......

The one at the front is a male ,the one at the back is a female although they are two different species they spawned simultaneously but the male got the ball rolling.Size had nothing to do with it because frags was do the same thing at the same time .
