Anyone ever have a problem with there service?
4 weeks ago I bought a exp socket from them because they said I need it to run my 3/4hp chiller that runs 14amps for my Reefkepper 2 and Ellite. Well today its first time its hot here and in the need of a chiller. so I pluged it in and it will not work right.Either stays on for only 1/2 degree or will not shut off at all. I am hitting real high temps in my tank and afraid of losing 2k in coral. I have to keep plugging it in without control to make sure I dont forget to turn off.
I kept calling and emailing them today and telling them why is this hapining. First they don't replay to my 5 emails and after finaly getting them on the phone I feel like they dont know why and keep pushing me off? I explained how bad I need this fixed ASAP and I dont care if I have to buy a new one but just need something that will work. They told me that they will email me later to tell me two thing to try. Insteed of telling me over the phone I have to wait another day.
My problem is the tank is in m office were there is no AC to run 24hrs there. It shuts off at night.
I think this will be my last time I buy there products.
Anyone ever have this problem???
How can I sleep tonight?

ur lights are off so no raise in temp tonight.lower the time your MH are on for and put a fan on the tank and in your basement sump.if it gets way hot get 6 to ten bottles of frozen water and let them float in your sump.people say make sure its rodi but in a bottle there isnt a chance they will open up.

I had an issue with my RKL-ALC module for my lights and they were helpful, but had the west coast laid back attitude. They don't answer there email for a few days so I just stopped sending them anything. I did get frustrated with them because they kept trying to have me run all sorts of sequences with the updater and then each day when it didn't work they would say they would work on it and try to have something else to do the next day. Meanwhile my lights were completely off for 3 days and if i didn't go buy another light fixture it would've been 5. I don't think they are trying to be unhelpful, it seems like thats just how they are, granted when you are in a crisis its not how you want the situation to be handled. I hope everything works out!!

I think they're a small overwhelmed company. Its a decent product but like any software/hardware it needs real support which can be expensive manpower. There is good discussion on the forums, have you put your question there?

That doesnt sound too bad, I have a heater hooked up to the temp probe and it has worked flawlessly, what the actual problem you are having?

that 14 amp rating is pretty close to the 15amp max for the controller. It can easily hit that 15amp break I think your assumption of current overload is correct.

This chiller needs an independant controller (i suggest ranco) on an independant 20amp circuit with nothing else plugged in.

Well they say it can handle 15amps and i have a 15amp breaker that is not tripping. The part cost me $39 compared to ranco's $275 controller, there problem is they should of told me that it can handle max 13amp and not missleed me. Today they are mailing me a new one that should work?

I was thinking the chiller is actually pulling more the than 15amps, in which case the controller would cut power before it trips the breaker.

Have you got the replacement yet? I am curious to see if it works. If not I'd measure the current with an ampmeter while the chiller is running

Also I would not trust a 14amp load on a 15 amp circuit. One little surge could trip the breaker and cut your chiller while noone is home.

Fwiw, the ranco temp controller is about $115.

Yeah your right on the breaker, will change tomorrow to a 20amp to be sure, well today they send me a replacement of the expansion socket. I had to pay for a new one and return the old one. Once they get it they will refund my money, problem was $30 2 day shipping i got stuck paying. They said they had to program my exp socket to wotk past 15amps. Seems to work today but nervouse if it either gets stuck on or not on at all
