:( :sigh1: Woke up this morning to find one of my crocea clams has biten the dust last night. :banghead: He finally died after about two months of showing declining health, currently his younger brother crocea and his 4 maxima cusins are morning the death. A sad day indeed for this clam family, but atleast me made it to see the new year.
Here's a pic of the fallen...the one on the left

No idea why it died, no signs of pyrmid snails, fish dont pick at it. After it died i dipped it in freshwater to see if anything was eating it would pop out, but nothing came out. I think its just a bad pick of the batch.

i looks to me that they are both "gaping" pretty badly (mouth is pretty wide open)- usually a sign of poor health. the one on the right doesn't look so hot either... what kind of light do you keep them under? I'm not an expert, having only a single clam- but thats what it looks like!

noodleman,

I have read that as well. My crocea seems very healthy and the opening is fairly large. I have also read, when a crocea truly gaps, you will know. You will be able to clearly see its gill structure and small tentacles around the opening will turn up.
