Went away for the last week and had my roommates watch over the tank.... Big mistake. Pump to chiller was majically unplugged. Tank was 95'... Lost at least half of my stock in the display... Trying to hold back the tears....
This is really the first big catastrophe I have ever had.

How do you recover? I can barely look at the tank without feeling a little sick and saddened.

that does suck bro. throw em into the tank with the dead fish. sorry to hear that.

On the bright side (If you need one) you can think of the new things you can put in there now. Put in fish that you couldn't before

I think I'm done with adding any fish -its the dead corals that really bother me though. I guess sps and 95' dont work too well. They do look kinda creepy though all pearly white.

something still coulda got unplugged but a controller or atleast an in/behind cabinet power strip w/ surge protector and timer for lights is def worth the small investment

take the dead corals and throw'em in your fuge atleast they will be useful and out of site

Thats whats so weird. The power strip is behind the cabinet and the lights are on a timer. I guess no one bothered to look at temp probe or chiller. My guess is one of em was trying to turn on the lights and accidentally unplugged it.

beat them with the dead coral.
Not so fast Anthony lmao.He didn't say he left specific instructions for his roomies, so may be they didn't know better.Next time if there is a next time leave specific instructions on what to do, what not to do and a contact phone no.I went on vacation and left my wife in charge of my 10 gal.African Cichlid fry tank ,some of the water evaporated and the HOB filter started to make noise so my wife decided to take out the heater and put it on the floor still pluged in ,lmao now.No casualties though.
