about 2 or 3 months ago i upgraded my 45 gallon tank to a 90 gallon and moved it to a different room. I am currently using a 48 inch PC coralife light with actinics and 10000k daylight bulbs. I knew i needed to get a new light like MH or LED'S but i started noticing my corals were doing very good and were growing nicely. I really think i owe the progress of these corals to the placement of my tank. It is located in the rear of the house with a window on the side but the sunlight comes directly into the tank. I know that direct sunlight can cause all types of algae but for some reason which i dont know it is under control. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been using direct sunlight as an extra source of light to their tank. BTW i have LPS, SPS and some anenome in my tank and like I said all are doing great. But i know sooner or later I will have to get a light because the sun will not be as bright as it is during the summer days.
