How do you guys feel about........

I have one chromi in my 90 gallon. I am looking to do a mixed reef as I have some xenias, kenyas and a hammer coral. Need some advice on fish.

I am looking to pick up 2 clowns, fire fish, blue jawfish, yellow pawn goby, and a hippo. I am going to pick up the hippo tang at the very end when I am completely done with the above list of fish.

Do you think its good to have them in my setup?

I don't think it matters when you add the hippo if you get it small enough. If you are looking for a medium to large sized hippo then i'd be a little concerned, but even then I don't think it would be too much of an issue.

You can stock the 90 alot more than what you have on the list. And you won't have a problem with the hippo unless you have other tangs in there or other comparably aggressive and competitive fish for food. IMO get the hippo smaller and healthy, healthy being T key factor.

I think you should be ok all those fish are safe for a mixed reef system...only thing is like it has been mentioned if the blue hippo is not the only tang you will be putting in you might want to get the tangs you want at one shot and put them in together so they dont get territorial. I have 3 tangs and they are doing great in my 120...

From what I have researched they will only get agressive to its own kind unless they are introduced at the same time in your tank. Those are the same two tangs I plan on getting for my 100G and I plan to add them both together as the last fish introduced to my system.

Another fish that is similar in color is the coris wrasse, its a peaceful fish and will get rid of bristleworms and flatworms. Its a peaceful fish and fairly easy to keep.

I wouldn't advise getting a tang for a 90 as even 90 gallons is still a small tank. One thing to consider is that as the tangs grow, that tank is shrinking around them and so is their territory. A fish that at one point was much smaller and happy with the "large" tank grows up, the tank is now considerably smaller as both the yellow and hippo tangs get HUGE, and they need more space so they lash out. If you insist on getting a tang for the 90 I would have to say you should limit yourself to just one. The fact is that these are wild animals and you can't predict exactly how they will behave, you can only guess based on others experiences. Stick with one and save yourself the inevitable "I had to tear my 90 apart to get my tangs out because they went nuts" thread.

Just picked up 2 clowns, decorative fire fish, yellow watchman goby, and 4 mexican turbos. Wish me luck. I have more to get but in the near future. Thanks for the advice everyone.

From my experience, the tangs only get aggressive at the beginning when you introduce them into the tank, My tangs didnt really fight, kinda just moved each other out of the way. I have a 150Gal tank and have 6 Tangs. Some I introduced individually and some I entered 2 at a time. I have a sailfin, hippo, yellow, powder blue, scopas and the big boss the Purple tang. they all get along, so I'm guessing that it all depends on the fish if they will get along or not. LOL. I believe Tangs are aggressive towards other tangs of similar shape. Both hippo and yellow are pretty docile in temperament. What you have to watch out for is things like a naso and a powder together. If the tangs are different in shape, they will usually not fight as much. That being said, a 90g should really be home to 1 tang or 2 tops. A hippo and yellow would probably fight the least IMO.

A hippo and yellow tang should get alone with no problem but every fish is different. I will pick the yellow over the hippo. A hippo will probably get all the food before your fire fish can get to it. A yellow tang will keep you from algae problem assume your water quality is good. Flame angel will eat some of your corals sooner or later.
