Ok, here's a pic. Never seen this before, the polyps are twice the size of acan lords I've seen; near nickel sized. 40 polyps plus!

So, who knows how to frag acan lords?

Spyro, great looking colony!

Invest in a dremel with diamond cutting wheel thats all. Make sure you cut me a nice frag!

If you think they are big now, wait till you feed them, i have some lord polyps that are bigger than a quarter!

Good luck,
Steven

Check with RandyO on RC, he sell them all time and makes alot of frags.

You could probably sell the whole colony on Ebay for anywhere between $50-$100 a polyps. So if you have 40 your looking at $2,000-$4,000 and probably alot more as thing tend to go for alot more on Ebay then they should.

THANKS for the picture. Beautiful!!!

RandyO on RC
Lately, instead of cutting them up, I glue them on new, larger rocks. Once they just about cover the top of a frag rock, they will start to grow down the sides of the rock, and even underneath the rock. So, what I have been doing is getting a larger frag rock that is just a few inches larger and glue the Acanthastrea rock on top of this larger rock. The Acanthastrea now continue to grow down this rock and start to cover it. When they encrust far enough, I will get an even bigger rock for another base. It's kind of like building a snowman. You take 3 balls of snow. Small on top, and largest on the bottom. And the Acanthastrea encrusts its way down the sides, giving you a larger looking mother colony since the center is all rock. And if someday, I don't want that big colony, I can pry the 3 rocks apart and have 3 smaller colonies.

I hope I didn't loose you guys. That was tough to explain.

First frag rock A
Second rock glued to the bottom AAA
Third rock glued to second rock AAAA

You end up with a large rounded colony.
This would be a gentle way. Otherwise just cut it with a dremel or sharp scissors, try and cut along the wall between polyps. You may damage some tissue (try to minimize it, be careful not to affect the mouths ability to consume food) but hopefully they will bounce back.

I keep seeing more and more on ebay, even though they're still going for high prices but that ebay. But the things is some vendors are now selling them and now just 2 or 3 polyps but larger colonies. So evenually more and more will hit the market and hopefully the price will fall. I wouldn't mind a couple just need to find the room.

Very strange acan lord indeed. Please tell me if this is normal.

I have other acans which when fed meaty foods, will within 5 or ten minutes, wrap themselves around it in order to feed.

This large acan will literaly put the meaty food from your fingertips just like an anemone. Is this normal? I didn't think that the polyps could move so quickly. Any comments?
