Heuerfan,

I haven't been to P.A. on Delancey in years, when was the last time you were there? do they have a decent selection of S.W. fish?

Just there last week, they had 4 nice blue throats and usually have decent saltwaterfish. They always have your basic LPS, froggy's, torch, hammer's, etc... They are planning to expand their saltwater operation.

I really like Reef and Fin in stamford, Ct. They have good stuff- and are pretty nice.

I'm pretty limited as to where I can go, having no car- so New World on 38th in Manhattan is my defacto spot. There's a new guy there who really knows his stuff and is really cool to talk to (for a change)- he's also started stocking frags and other cool items. Too bad they are pretty over priced and don't except trade ins.

I'll have to bump Jawz II as my favorite LFS. His prices have gone up now that he's re-established himself, but he's always been fair to me. For fish quality, not many places can match up. His coral selection (mostly softies and LPS) seems to have dropped off, but it's still better than most.

great guy ,I see him alot in the airport when i pick up corals.has great stuff as well :)

Haven't been there since the summer. Been meaning to go because they were in the process of renovationg their coral section and i heard from people on RC that its nice now. Decent selection of corals/fish.

I wouldn't say they have a decent selection of coral, I didn't see any SPS, LPS or softies I would call decent when I was there 3 weeks ago. Fish is getting better and the price is a little cheaper than most LFS on the Island.

Dont know if this counts, but my favorite was The Reef Shoppe and/or Carribean Forest in Rochester. They've got the best looking show tank as well as a great selection of corals. The prices are a bit higher, but they usually get stuff that aren't too commonly seen. Even the tanks with corals for sale usually look really nice.

House of Fins in Greenwich is the absolute best when it comes to eye candy and wow factor. Great place to visit but not buy because they are 2-3x the price of regular stores.

For Fish, I think by far the best is NY Aquaria in Mamaroneck, NY. They have some of the healthier fishes - never had one die. That's a different case when I buy fish in Fishtown USA in Flushing - almost every fish I bought died the same week.

Ink is this a real shop that has a website?

My intention with this thread was to get an idea of the good LFS's that people use for those of us who only know a few stores in and around the city. So if you've got store addresses and phone numbers or websites please post em!!

Quoted from the IslandReefs website:

"If you are in the Long Island, NY area pick can be arranged (minimum purchase of $40 appreciated) or pick up at one of the monthly LIRA meetings can be made."
