Ok so its that time of the year I have to replace my double ended metal halide bulbs. Its my first time doing this is there anything special I have to do. Its been 9 months i think maybe 10 or 11 well you know ok.

when istalling the bubls never touch them with your bare fingers, try to use a tissue, or a soft cloth, i use a piece of cloth that you use to clean glasses with. The reason behind this is that your fingers have oil on them and this degrades the bulbs.ohh and another thing please change the bulbs in the morning before your light cycle begins, i have heard of stories where people shut down their lights and wait 15 minutes and wind up burning their fingers. another thing is that you might have to decrease your light cycle, the bulbs you are putting in will be a lot stronger, and may stress your coral

Actually, you don't want to touch the bulbs with your bare hands because impurities on the glass surface can cause a difference in temp which will cause the bulb to pop when it lights, due to parts of the surface expanding at different rates.
