Install the programmer software first so all the required drivers are loaded on your system. Then plug in USB -> SID -> RKE Headunit/Module. It should start installing the needed once your system detects a new USB device.

Hmm... you know the USB port is fully functional? Got another device you can plug in their just to check connectivity? iPod? Digital Camera? Also, read the upgrading .PDF that comes with the programmer. There's certain modules that shouldn't be connect to anything other than the SID while being updated.

Does your SID have a Myreef label on it? if it does not you wont be able to upgrade to the Myreef 2.0 and you will have to send the SID back to DA to have the firmware updated by them because there is no other way to update the SID. Also you are going to have to use Myreef 2.0 in order to update the RKE firware to the next release. They say it will be out of Beta really soon.

On another note, do not try to use your SID going thru a USB hub, it won't work correctly, connect it directly to a USB port on your PC. FYI Mac is not supported as of yet.

it is directly into the comp, and the sl1 just isnt being recognized by the head unit. that is where the trouble all started. i cant even see what the firmware version is on anything since i cant hook anything up to the computer. nothing is coming up when connected to the sid

You have to hook up one module at time and download them one at a time, once that is done you should be able to connect the bus and see all of your modules.

You have to connect the SID directly to your computer and from the SID connect which ever module you want to program using the bus cable (the one that looks like a telephone cable).

What is the SL1 connected to? Remember what I said about the new PC4 being factory loaded with the 2.x firmware? Do not use that PC4 until you are able to upgrade everything to 2.x. So connect the SL1 to the PC4 and the headunit to the other port on the PC4. See what happens when you do that.

If it still does not see the SL1, go into the headunit and do a complete factory reset.
